The important floras of Allahabad are rhododendrons, betula, silver fir, spruce, deodar, chir, oak, sal, gigantic haldu, dhak, teak, mahua, salai, sisso, chironji and tendu. There are also a number of medicinal herbs like rauwolfia serpentina, Viala serpens, podophyllum, hexandrum and aephecra gerardiana are grown here. Woody plants, trees, shrubs and climbers are found here.



Allahabad has rich variety of fauna here. Its avi fauna is among the richest in the country. In the western regions of Allahabad, majority of the people depends on farming. Wheat, rice, sugar cane, pulses, oil seeds and potatoes are the main crops grown here. Sugar cane is an important cash crop grown here. Apples and mangoes are also produced in this region. The common lives stock found here are cattle, buffaloes, goats and other animals. There are about 175 varieties of fish found here. Ornamental fishes are also found here in large varieties. Some of the ornamental varieties are rohu, hilsa, mahseer, mangar, snow trout and mirror carp.
