History of Parwanoo city

Parwanoo derives its name from a village "Ooncha Parwanoo" situated near the place where sector 1A stands today. The industrial township developed in 1973 soon after the recognition of Himachal Pradesh as a full fledged state on 25th Jan., 1971.Visionary leader and the first C. M. of the state, Sh. Y. S. Parmar, recognized the importance of industrialization as a catalyst for economic growth of the people of this hilly state. It was he who sensed the potential of this piece of land, adjacent to the plains of Haryana, for development as an industrial hub. He took personal interest in developing the necessary infrastructure, incentives were offered to entrepreneurs for setting up their units here.

Geography and Climate of Parwanoo city

Parwanoo is situated in the foothills of Shivalik mountain range, a part of the outer Himalayas. The topography of Parwanoo is mountainous with elevation ranging from 2500 to 3000 ft. above mean sea level. It is located between the longitudes 76.57 degree East and latitudes 30.56 degree north.

In winter, the temperature can get quite low when heavy woollens are required. It is pleasantly warm in summer and cottons are recommended.
