Vapi is one of the important cities in the state of Gujarat in India's District of Valsad.In terms of industries it is the second largest industrial area in whole Asia.The majority of them are the chemical industries.Geographically it is situated in the South region of Gujarat and is located in between the Union Territory of Daman and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.Vapi's industrial town is situated in the southern end of Gujarat’s 'Golden Corridor' - a 400 km belt of industrial estates.It is lies on the banks of Daman Ganga River.Vapi is a fast growing city and is one of the largest industrial complexes in India.Vapi is about 170 km north of Mumbai and 90 km south of Surat.       Owing to the large number of industries,Vapi attracts several business travelers.Major industries in the city include chemicals, dyes, paints, paper, pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, textiles, woods, glass, food products and packaging.All modern daily requirements – electric and electronic appliances, packaged foods, readywear clothes, house fittings, newspapers and magazines, books, car servicing household repairs and maintenance – are available in shops on main streets and in shopping centre of residential areas. Vapi is located at 20°22'00?N 72°54'00?E.National Highway 8 bisects the town, creating east and west parts - the western part being the original old town-place, and the eastern part mainly hosting the industries and the newly constructed residential areas.Via the modernized highway, Mumbai is about 180 km to the south and the city of Surat is about 125 km to the north.Vapi is surrounded by green forests dotted with pretty hills and criss-crossed by rivers and streams.Tribal village lend a gaiety that is intoxicating.Several gardens, lakes, riverside parks, hills stations, beach stations, old forests, religious places are within a day’s outing.Many of these places have good stay and food facilities.Vapi has three seasons summer from March to June, monsoon from June to September, and winter from October to February.The average daily temperature in summer can be 30 degree celcius and the minimum temperature in winter can be 24 degree celcius.The average annual rainfall in 80 inches. As of 2001 India census,Vapi had a population of 71,395. Males constitute 58% of the population and females 42%. Vapi has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 64%.In Vapi, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
