Mandore, 9km north of jodhpur, was the capital of marwar before the foundation of jodhpur. The only attraction here is the extensive mandore gardens with their high rock terraces. The gardens also contain the chahatris of the rathor rules. one of hte most imposing is the chhatri of maharaja dhiraj ajit singh, and enormous edifice with carved elephants, amalaka, a pillared forechamber, and fine sculptures.
